HDPE Geomembrane for Aquaculture

We make fish and shrimp pond liners in our own factory in Guangdong and sell them straight to farms. Every roll is 100% new resin — nothing recycled — so nothing harmful leaks into your pond water. Rolls come seamless up to 8 metres wide.

Why Farms Reline

Earth Pond vs Lined Pond, Side by Side

What actually changes when a working pond switches from bare soil to a lined basin.

Daily realityTraditional earth pondJinseed lined pond
Water loss10–20% of the water soaks into the ground every day; you keep pumping to hold salinityWater stays in the pond — level and salinity hold steady through the cycle
Disease carry-overViruses and bacteria (EMS, WSSV) sit in the mud and wait for the next cropA sealed sheet between stock and soil — the pond washes fully clean
Time between crops30–60 days of drying, tilling and treating the soil after each harvest2–5 days — pressure-wash, flush, restock. Roughly one extra crop a year
OxygenMud and rotting waste eat oxygen; aerators stir up more mudClean bottom — paddlewheels and diffusers work at full efficiency
Feed wastePellets sink into the mud; the waste pushes ammonia upFeed stays on the smooth floor where the stock can reach it
How dense you can stockSemi-intensive only — around 20–40 shrimp/m² before water quality collapses150–250+ shrimp/m² under super-intensive management
Pond banksWaves and aerators eat the banks away; ponds get shallower every yearBanks stay put under a UV-stabilized sheet — no re-digging
How long it lastsMajor earthwork repairs every 1–3 years10–20 years of service from one installation

Lined-pond figures are typical results on commercially managed intensive farms — your numbers depend on species, climate and how the farm is run. The material itself is batch-tested to GRI-GM13 (HDPE) and GRI-GM17 (LLDPE).

Picking a Thickness

What Most Farms Order

Three thicknesses cover almost every pond we ship. If your pond is unusual, send the drawing and we will tell you which one fits.

Grow-out pond lined with smooth black geomembrane holding clean blue water
0.5 mm food-grade LLDPEHatcheries and nursery ponds

Soft and easy to fit into small, irregular ponds. Gentle underfoot for fry and fine for frequent cleaning.

0.75 mm (30 mil)The intensive shrimp standard

The most-ordered thickness worldwide. Handles aerators, foot traffic and daily farm work at the lowest cost per square metre.

1.0 mm (40 mil)Rocky ground and long-service ponds

Extra puncture margin where the soil is rough, equipment is heavy, or the pond will stay full for years.

All three come from the same virgin-resin lines and the same batch testing. Rolls are seamless up to 8.0 m wide and cut to your pond layout, so there are fewer seams to weld on site.

HDPE or LLDPE

Two Materials, One Factory

Both are food-safe and made in-house. The difference is how stiff the sheet is — and that comes down to your pond floor.

HDPE — the Intensive-Farm Workhorse

Stiffer, stronger and the most UV-resistant of the two. Most commercial shrimp and fish farms order 0.75 or 1.0 mm smooth HDPE. It likes flat, well-prepared ground and exceeds GRI-GM13 requirements.

LLDPE — for Uneven Ground and Retrofits

A much softer sheet that stretches over 800% before it breaks (ASTM D6693). It drapes into corners, old earth ponds and settling ground without stress. Food-grade 0.5 and 0.75 mm rolls, made to GRI-GM17.

One Thing Buyers Forget

Sharp Soil? Add a Cushion Under the Liner

If your pond floor has stones, roots or hard clods, a non-woven geotextile layer sits under the liner and takes the punishment instead. We make that too — it ships in the same container as your liner.

Puncture protection

100–830 g/m² PET cushion spreads point loads from stones and roots so they never reach the liner.

Same factory, same shipment

One supplier for the full pond package — liner, cushion, and batch documents for both.

Only where you need it

Clean, compacted soil can take the liner directly. Tell us what your pond floor looks like and we will say honestly whether the cushion is worth it. See the geotextile range

What Changed After Relining

An intensive shrimp operation moved from clay ponds to 0.75 mm Jinseed HDPE. Seepage stopped, salinity held, and the ponds were ready for the next crop in days instead of weeks.

Safe for Stock

Nothing Leaches Into Your Pond Water

What the sheet is made of matters as much as how thick it is. Here is our material policy, in plain terms.

Aerial view of an intensive shrimp farm with geomembrane lined ponds and paddlewheel aerators

100% new resin, zero recycled content

No heavy metals and no chemical residue can migrate into the water — safe for sensitive stock like white shrimp (L. vannamei) and tilapia. Every resin batch comes with a certificate of analysis.

Independently tested, REACH compliant

Independent labs have tested the material for non-toxicity and purity, and the formulation meets EU chemical-safety rules.

Nowhere for pathogens to hide

A smooth, sealed surface gives viruses and bacteria no mud to overwinter in — the pond disinfects completely between crops.

Welding & Testing

A Liner Is Only as Good as Its Seams

Most liner failures come from installation, not the material. Every order ships with welding parameters and seam-test criteria for your crew.

Dual-track hot wedge welding machine seaming two geomembrane panels on site
Air-channel pressure test at 0.25 MPa being carried out on a welded geomembrane seam

Ground preparation and anchoring

A compacted floor cleared of sharp objects, and a standard 50 × 50 cm anchor trench around the rim so wind cannot lift the sheet.

Dual-track hot wedge welding

Two parallel welds with a closed air channel between them — so every metre of seam can be tested, not just looked at.

Pressure test before filling

The air channel is pressurized to 0.25 MPa and must hold for 5 minutes. Anything that fails gets marked and re-welded before water goes in.

Seam strength, verified

Seams are made to hold at least 85% of the sheet's own tensile strength, tested to ASTM D6392.

FAQ

What Farm Owners Ask Us

What thickness should I choose for a shrimp pond?

0.75 mm (30 mil) is the standard choice for intensive shrimp farming worldwide — tough enough for aerators and daily work, at the best cost per square metre. Go 1.0 mm (40 mil) if your soil is rocky or the equipment is heavy.

Is the liner safe for fish and shrimp?

Yes. We use 100% new resin with zero recycled content, and Independent testing has verified the material for non-toxicity. It is biologically inert — nothing harmful gets into your pond water.

How long will the liner last?

In direct sun, typically 10 to 20+ years depending on your climate and how the pond is maintained. Covered or buried liners can go past 30 years. Our warranty for aquaculture use runs 5 to 10 years and covers manufacturing defects and premature UV damage.

Do I need the geotextile cushion?

Only if the pond floor has sharp stones, roots or hard lumps. Clean, compacted soil can take the liner directly. Tell us what your ground looks like and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth adding.

Can I install it myself?

A small hobby pond can be taped. A commercial pond needs professional dual-track hot wedge welding — that is what gives you testable seams holding at least 85% of the sheet's strength. We send welding parameters and test criteria with every order.

Can you cut rolls to my pond layout?

Yes. Rolls come off our lines seamless up to 8 metres wide, and we cut the length to match your pond plan. Fewer seams means faster installation and fewer places a leak could start.
