Smooth or Textured Geomembrane?

Surface selection directly affects installation efficiency, slope friction, anchoring, drainage layer contact, and long-term liner stability.

Option 01

Smooth HDPE

Used for ponds, lagoons, reservoirs, landfill bases, and flat containment areas. It is easier to clean, inspect, weld, and handle on simple site layouts.

Option 02

Single Textured

Used when one side needs higher friction against soil, geotextile, geonet, or drainage layers while the other side remains smoother for welding and installation.

Option 03

Double Textured

Used on steep slopes, landfill sidewalls, heap leach pads, and high-risk interfaces where both sides require stronger friction performance.

Good Installation Starts Before Welding

Even a high-quality geomembrane can fail if the base is not prepared correctly. The installation plan should control soil compaction, sharp stones, wrinkles, weather, anchoring, welding temperature, and testing sequence.

  • Prepare a smooth and compacted subgrade before liner deployment.
  • Use geotextile cushioning when puncture risk is high.
  • Lay rolls according to panel layout drawings to reduce unnecessary seams.
  • Use hot wedge welding for long straight seams and extrusion welding for details, repairs, pipe penetrations, and corners.

In containment projects, the liner sheet itself is only one part of performance. Weld seams, pipe penetrations, corners, repairs, and anchor trenches must be controlled carefully because these areas carry higher leakage risk.

When should I use textured HDPE geomembrane?
